Lord of the Rings - Conquest provides an assortment of character classes to accomodate many types of play styles. If you're the kind of player who likes to hang back and pick people off from a distance, than this is your character.
Check out some of these tips and strategies to improve your game:
-
As obvious as this sounds, keep a distance from the main battle. You're pretty much useless at close range.
-
If you do get stuck close to the fight, you do have a melee kick that will knock an opponent down. If you're surrounded though, shoot a fire arrow straight down and this will give you time to get out of danger.
-
You do more damage when zoomed in, and ALOT more damage when you get a headshot off when zoomed in. So sit back from the fight, zoom in and start picking heads off.
-
Healing is the hardest thing you'll have to do. You can't heal yourself, and the orbs that drop from enemies you kill should be far away if you're following the tips above. Every now and then you're going to have to sneak in to pick up some health orbs, or find a friendly mage to throw a heal your way.
-
Use your poison arrows to slow down and injury enemies that are coming toward you.
-
Use your fire arrows an flammable targets, like Ents, for a pyro show and extra damage.
-
Fire arrows are also great for knocking down a group of enemies or knocking someone off a horse.

The new Lord of the Rings game, made by the creators of Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2, brings a fresh new look to the over populated Lord of the Rings gaming world.
Unlike previous Lord of the Rings games, this game is focused more on multiplayer. The single player campaign is still intact and can be played through and enjoyed in a single sitting, but the real meat of the game comes with the online multiplayer.
With the traditional game modes like Deathmatch and Conquest there are two new modes that stand out: Capture the Ring and Ringbearer.
In Capture the Ring, a single ring exists on the map and two opposing sides much capture it and take it to the enemies base. An interesting twist on the traditional single flag capture the flag modes, forcing one team to go to the opposing teams base, and spawn points, is an interesting and action packed twist.
Ringbearer is more of a "fun to mess around with mode" that lets one player be Frodo and everyone else as Wraiths trying to kill him. You get points for being Frodo on a time basis.
The ability to choose which side, good or evil, to play is interesting too. Pandemic Studios has kept with the theme of heroes and allows players to take on the roles of the famous heroes like Gandalf to the not as famous, but equally deadly, Witch King. Playing as a Hero does give you a feeling of super power but appopriately doesn't make you invincible, so watch your step.
Overall this game plays well, involves enough dynamics that a well organized team truely does have an advantage and will keep you interested for awhile. On the downside, this isn't the Roleplaying Game you might be expecting and is more like a Battlefront with swords, nor does it really give you any senese of accomplishment that you might be expecting from an RPG. But thats because its not an RPG..

It's that time of the year again. The time of year when little kiddies can't afford all of the games on the market and the time of year when us adults spend too much time at work to enjoy all the great titles coming out.
Admittedly, I was too busy playing Fable 2 to even consider spending time with Dead Space. Fortunately, Fable 2 is short.
Diving into the world of Dead Space you’re going to notice one thing straight away, the graphics. The graphics are breath taking. The lighting effects and textures are some of the best I've seen in a long time. After you’ve absorbed that, you’ll start to notice how amazing the sounds and music actually are and how they’re corresponding to the events around you.
Not long after that, within the first 5 minutes, you’ll have your first heart attack. This game does many things well, but the main thing they’ve set out to do, is kill you…for real. Turn the lights out, crank up the volume and get ready to experience one of the most horrifying games since F.E.A.R.
They’ve done a great job of never removing you from the experience. Your traditional H.U.D., showing your health and other details, is tied directly into you suit. Your ammo levels are visible on your weapon whenever you aim. Even your inventory screen magically pops up in front of your character as things continue to lurk in the darkness.
From the whispers, you occasionally hear but can never determine where they're coming from, to the noises in the ventilation, you’ll quickly feel immersed in a situation you have little control over. This game is definitely not for the epileptic since you occasionally enter rooms not only plastered with blood and body parts, but suffering from electrical issues as well.
Besides scaring the crap out of you, the story is very well done and you really do start to develop sympathy for the events that took place before your arrival. As you dive deeper into the game, you’ll come across many Video, Audio and Text Logs from the previous inhabitants of the ship. Listen, watch and read them because they make the game experience that much more enjoyable as you start to piece together what took place.
There is a wide enough assortment of weapons to keep you interested and everything is completely upgradeable using power nodes and work benches.
The zero gravity and vacuum experiences are amazing. I was very impressed by the sound changes when you enter a vacuum and how the combat system takes a whole new appreciation in zero gravity.
Overall, if you can take a break from Fable 2, or any of the other great titles coming out over the next few weeks, try not to miss out on Dead Space. Just make sure you’re wearing your Depends and let your loved ones know where you are.
