I started out with the Hartford Wolfpack as PF RW as well. Started on the third line and within a few games was on line two. I had 5 goals and 10 assists in 8 games. After one game with two goals and an assist on the second line I was on line one.

Within three games and 4 points later, I was called up the Rangers on the third line. I played 6 games with Blair Betts and Nigel Dawes and racked up 4 goals and 9 helpers in that span and won all six games, one blowing out the Sens 8-1 where I had two goals and two assists.

Second line promotion, with Drury and Shanahan. Played two games so far with them and have one goal and four assists and won both games. Nothing as of yet has happened negatively.

I just finished up my first season in the Be a Pro mode and had no problem scoring. I started off with the Manitoba Moose and had 20 goals and 9 assists playing for them. Then my career took off for the Canucks and ended up scoring 250 goals and getting 42 assists. In fact in one game against the Calgary Flames I scored 22 goals and ended up winning 27-2. I wonder if anyone else has managed to score more times with 5 minute periods and the pro difficulty. If anyone has beaten this let me know, then I will try to score even more.

So you can be traded in NHL 09 Be a Pro mode? I was wondering about that. I started to a strong start, my positioning as a center has given me top point getter in the team despite my player is only an overall 68 among the 80's in the first line. My team isn't too strong and starting to get a little restless wondering when or if my team is going to trade me.

I scored 20 goals and had 4 helpers once....... but that was 5 minute periods on rookie......scoring 22 goals in 5 minute periods is impossible on harder difficulties. In order to do that the other team must never have control of the puck and you would have to score fast. My fastest goal to date was 16 seconds with 5 minute periods. so that would be more like 4 seconds for the goal to happen. That was a shot from the blue line that went top shelf. So in order to get 22 goals in theory you would have to score more then a goal a minute. Unless you are playing on rookie it is completely impossible. And honestly if that was done on rookie then it is nothing to brag about.

Also to the people that want to be traded...all you have to do is sim games for a while and the team will trade you 90 percent of the time. However the team they trade you to is random. Just beware that as soon as you get traded the game saves.

Also playing difficulty does not affect experience. It is how you play the game.

I have had some odd sucess. Currently i am on the first line of the Worcester sharks. When i play games i usually get inbetween 7-15 goals and like 2 assists. I simulated practically one year last season. But before i started simming i had 89 points, not even 20 games in. I was on the capitals. I simmed...Got demoted...line 3 of their ahl team. then at the end of the year they gave me 2 contracts-one with capitals, and one with sharks. I was ahl scoring champ and had 24 points in 7 games with the caps. so if u dont like ur team sim!!!

This thread has helped me greatly, I was wondering if you could get traded in Be A Pro.

Life is good for me in Be A Pro, I had a great rookie year, as a power forward center I won the Stanley Cup and a clutch of post season awards with the Devils. I chose the Devils at random - I turned my back and scrolled through the teams and chose whoever I stopped on, afterall you don't really get to choose who you get drafted to!!!

At the end of the season I was rewarded with a 3 year contract, the other teams that came in for me were not much cop, so I thought I'd sign on the dotted line with the Devils thinking they'd mould a team around their hot new star.

Nahhh, that didnt happen, they bought in ageing centers Joe Sakic and Doug Weight via free agency so I was relegated to the 3rd line - emerging as a RW!!!!!!!!!

So I want out, not happy, so I'm pleased to find that there's a way to escape - thanks!!!

The Devils will rue the day they messed me around!!

The most points I have got in a game so far was 6 goals and 6 assists, that was when I was on the 3rd line with Svatos and Higgens. Oh ya they so did trade for svatos They got Svatos and Statsny for Lang and one of the Kostistens. They also traded Higgens away for Letang and Kennedy. I have 24 Games Played so far... with 51 goals and 19 assists in Hamilton's AHL and now 27 goals and 5 assists on Montreal! so all together thats 92 points in 24 games! Daaymn I'm no brainiac but isn't that killing even Gretzky's markers?

I also started as a goalie for Ottawa, I've only played 20 games but all 20 have been major shutouts! Some for 15 shots others for 40 I'm the max height and weight so I take up lots of the net! I figured Ottawa would need a goalie the most so I went with Canada baby!

i started out for the manitoba moose and played around 15 games before getting called up to the canucks when id had about 19 goals and 8 assists for the moose. my first two games which ive just played havnt been so amazing...lost both and scored in only one but im on target, i like how different NHL games are from AHL, surprised me a hell of a lot!

the thing is i dont want to play for the canucks...i played for manitoba because theyre my favourite AHL team but was hoping to be able to opt for a trade to detroit, my favourite NHL team (of 11 years...im not a glory supporter) but now i guess if trades are random i could end up somewhere shit like anaheim

one question....do you only get traded if you ARENT performing well or doesnt it matter?

Hello.

I scored 42 goals and approximately 31 assists in my rookie year with the Iowa Chops as marksman and they never offers me more than playing in the first line of the AHL franchise.

The Ducks offers me a one year contract after the season and my agent have to fight to give me a one million salary, so I choose to sign with the Buffalo Sabres for 2.2 millions and one year.

The coaches says that I was a lazy player in my appreciation report but i shooted 347 times in 80 games and gives more than 200 body checks what is unusual from a marksman center. Ending my rookie year with a differencial of +12.

Now I play my second season in the AHL and still waits for an opportunity in the NHL. I scored 5 goals and 4 assists in 7 games with the Portland Pirates and get a differential of +4.

I think it's necessary to make a specification ; I play my career in pro mode difficulty.

It all seems to depend on what team you are on. If you are on a team that needs your position, you will move up quickly. If you pick a position that is heavy, they won't move you up. For example, if you are a center and the team you pick has 3 great centers you will probably only make the 4th line.

If you choose to be a goalie on a team that has a sorry goalie, you will move up quick. etc... At least I think??

i started of with the NJD and was a Right Winger...i was a Sniper...well i worked my way up to the First-Line...Stanly Cup Finals Game 7 and im on a Break Away...the game is tied with 1 minute left...i shoot with a Wrist shot and it hits off both posts and somehow the goalie saves it...we wnt to a shootout and lost 4-3 (in shootout)...i got traded to the Blackhawks, even though i murdered my goals...i guess it wasnt to bad being on that Line 1 though with the Blackhawks...then they sent me down during my second year because apparently i dont pass even though i had 50 assists halfway through i also had 30 goals...i mean WTF i had the most Assists and 2nd most Goals and im in the Minors

I started as a playmaker center with the Thrashers and after 20 games in the minors, where I scored 24 points ... mostly goals, I was promoted to the big team. There, I scored about a point a game ... 30 goals and about 30 assists.

In my second year, me and Kovalchuk are #1 and #2 in league scoring. I have about 40 goals and 40 assists in 60 games. Kovalchuk has about 50 goals and 30 assists. Strangely, Simon Gagne is third in league scoring. Followed by Gaborik and Getzlaf.

I think Be a Pro mode is great ... I started out scoring by ducking down below the goal line and then popping out right in front of the goal and slamming the puck past the goalie (aim high to the non-glove side) but the game eventually started sending in 2 or 3 players to knock me over ... so I had to develop new moves. Another good move is to pretend you are going wide to duck behind the goal (like I mention above) but right at the top of the circles cut in hard to center ice and fire a slapshot between the two D-men.

Getting assists is actually more difficult, but Kovalchuk is a reliable scorer. No one else on the team can seem to pot one with any consistency. To get him going, just pass him the puck when he is also near the top of the circles. Players don't seem to score as well when closer to the goal. But Kovalchuk is deadly from 15 feet away.

Another good way to get assists is to stand behind to goal and wait for a player to come after you, when he does, go the other way and either try a wrap-around or pass to a teammate in front of the goal.

On power plays you can stand 5 to 10 feet in front of the goal and if you have a good deflection score your teammates will fire at you and you will automatically tip the puck into the goal. You can even stand to the side of the goal (right on the red goal line) and get tips, but get your deflection score up to 80 or so first.

My BAP Seems to be turning out like Josh's from his post on Jan/11/
I randomly went to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (New York Islanders) as a Sniper.
I've played 40 games and i have 27 Goals, 11 Assists for 38 points.
I'm on the 1st line with a great team (31-8-1)
but i haven't got the call to the NHL yet.
I need out after the end of the season though because i'm at LW and the Islanders are stacked
with Left wingers. After i finish my 1st season i'm bolting to a club with a little less LW depth.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for either Edmonton, Chicago, Pittsburgh or god forbid my home team Toronto.

I must be palying a different game. I dont have contract, i paly for bolts for 3 years, never been traded, nor the team traded anyone. I play PC version and I think there's a huge difference to PS3. Comments anyone?

i started out for manatoba i am a goalie and after 21 games on superstar 7 min periods my record is 11-9-1 with a 2.34 GAA and a .909 %but the best thing happend to me but its weird because vancouver traded luongo for bryan little of atlanta really lopsided trade but i got called up now my record with vancouver in 34 games is 20-12-2 with a 2.78 GAA .912 sv% but 2 games before the dead line i got traded to toronto of all teams for justin pogge i figure that the gm and coach care most about your GAA and save% so make sure there good

MY first BAP i was a Offencive D-man in 79 games (got injured all games with manatoba moose) i had 22 goals 50 assists and this was on all-star mode the second half of the season my team did not make the calder cup playoffs. next season i reign with vancouver for 4 years but get traded in the off season to toronto iam now 45 games into my 2nd year BAP my offical rookie year in the NHL and i have 12 goals 21 assists on All-star my team record is a dissapointing 4-15-0-3 though but eh its torronto ;)

I know this is about your first BAP expeirance but i gotta share mine iam in my 6th season with vancouver iam the captain iam a playmaker left winger my career NHL stats are 106 goals 345 assists which is hard to do my team has only made the playoffs 1 once we made it to the finals by the way your team will mostlikly trade you at the end of your contract happend to me i started with edmonton i was traded to van in the offseason my last year on the contract in 58 games i have 9 goals 51 assists on superstar my team record is 15-41-2 sucks i know but my team cant score on super star :S

My career continues!
I finished my first season and it was a pretty big one, i ended with 60 goals, 22 assists, i completed all of my goals with flying colors. I went from 79 to 81 overall. I got called up to the NY Islanders in my first season with around 30 games left and i killed,20goals, 12 assists. We finished 3rd overall in the NHL (The Islanders!?!) I ended up winning the Calder Memorial trophy. We got swept the first round by Carolina. BOO!! I have a complaint about the off-season though. I was psyched to start picking my team but you cant hold out for your team, u have 4 choices and thats it. ATL,BOS,COL and NYI all gave me contract offers, all 3 year deals and all of them were in between the 2.00m and 2.75m deal. I ended up going with ATL because im an idiot and forgot that Ilya Kovalchuk plays LW the same position as me oh well, i've played only 5 games and have 4 points. i'm hoping for the All-Star nod this year and the Cup! Another thing that i think is pretty weird about this game......the trades are pretty bad (dumb GM's)The NY Islander's traded away Mike Comrie a 1st line center for...drum role......Jose Theodore! so a 1st line center for a back up goalie, dipietro is way better then Theodore and they played Theodore maybe 10 games after the trade dead line. let's go ATL!.....as long as i play for them.

mine is the worst ever i was with the boston bruins my first year won the cup ended the year as rookie of the year then got traded in the offseason to washington after 40 games i had 39 goals and 33 assist leading the league wwith 72 points got put on waivers then phoenix picked me up put me in the minors and now im in my third year still in the ahl leading the league in points with 83 in 37 games and they still wont call me up i would like to c if any one can top that. o ya did i mention that i am on the third line still

I got it for the ps2 which is still fun but u dont start in the AHL it kinda got boring play for the blues cant get traded on ps2 neither can my teamates. So im 7 years in and my only goalies are Mason (38 years old) Legace (42y) and Shrouts (28) and all my guys except for me are like in their 40 or late 30's.

I just got the game a few weeks ago, and absolutely love BAP mode. Im from chicago so naturaly i signed for the Rockford Icehogs, i got called up 17 games in, i had 29 pts (21 goals 8 assists). Im a Sniper LW btw, chicago is stacked with RW's. I found it really hard to get assists at first but once i got called up it came like second nature. if any of u are havin trouble gettin assists id try playing with the blackhawks, getting to pass to Toews, Kane, Sharp, or Havlat is almost a sure goal if u make the right pass. im 49 games into the NHL and i have 103 pts and 3rd in the league in scoring (65 goals, 38 assists). Im 2 weeks from the playoffs and I'm hoping I win the Stanley cup.

The current Be A Pro Mode that I am playing is a hybrid goalie for the New York Islanders. I chose Hybrid because stand-up goalies seemed to have died out and there is no way I can do the splits for a butterfly goalie. I made my goalie as realistic as possible for me, by setting my height of 5'8" and my weight to 150 pounds.

I began my career with the Manitoba Moose. I met all the season expectations with an A+. When I began the playoffs I was really happy, as I slipped up in the 1st period of the first game against the Hamilton Bulldogs. I let in 3 goals. My team bounced back and managed to take a 5-3 win for game 1. We won the next game. The first two games were on home ice. When we went to their ice, we lost a game and then we took the series with the next two games. I pulled a shut out in game four, 2-0. I was ranked the best goalie in the AHL Playoffs. The next round was against the Rochester Americans. That was a disaster. The first game was 3-1 loss as we had to play on their ice. We managed to steal their home ice advantage away on game 2 with a 3-2 win. I was excited to play on home ice, but things went wrong. I let in 1 goal in 2nd period of game 3. My team pulled me in the last minute to try and tie it but Rochester scored making it 2-0. The goalie, Climie just shut us out on home ice. I hoped my team would do better in game 4. I was wrong. I got scored on and I held out again with 1 goal for the entire game and my team failed to score. So now we are down in the series 3-1. Then in our final game, facing elimination, I held my guys in the game and we were in over time, but my team failed to score. Climie got 3 shut outs in a row. He had a nice GAA of 1.04, while I got 1.40. I was disgusted with the performance and I decided that the Moose gave up on me in the play offs so I guess I will have to give up on them, although I would love to play as a Canuck goalie.

Either way, after looking through numerous teams that wanted to sign me for a 3 year contract, I decided to go with Montreal, since they are Canadian, and the team name is Canadiens. Also, since I stomped the Hamilton Bulldogs, I hoped the team would be strong for me. I did not play a single game for the Hamilton Bulldogs. Upon simulation for the first game of the season, I was traded away to the New York Islanders, who did not bring me down to the AHL, but made me an NHL goalie. But Because I had simulated to a specific date, it began to simulate my first couple of games. I have finally evened out my stats. I now have 11 wins 11 losses 2 shut outs, 2. something GAA, and a 90.8% Save Percentage. It is still quite early in the season.

What I do know is that there is a big difference playing in net for the AHL and the NHL. For one, the AHL is a slower paced game and much easier. Shots are slower, and less accurate and the players usually rely on slapshots in the slot or one-timers. In the NHL, there is imense passing, the players are skating extremely fast, and their shots are very accurate. The cross bar/post has saved me numerous times.

I started my career as the Manitoba Moose. I passed all the season expectations (87% , 2.32 GAA, 50+ GP, 32 W, 7 SO) and was the starting goalie for the play offs. We started off well and eliminated the Hamilton Bulldogs in 5 games. I was ranked as the best goalie up to that point. The second round was a disaster. It began on the Rochester Americans home ice. They won the first game we won the second. I was excited about playing them on home ice since the Moose seem to play better on home ice. I was wrong. For the next three games the Moose failed to score. Game 3, I let in a goal in the first period and held out until I was pulled last minute to try and tie the game. However they did not score. Game 4, I fought hard and let in a goal in the last minute of Game 4. Now my team is facing elimination after rocking the Bulldogs on the first round. Game 5 went to over time. My team refused to score. They managed to get one through on the second overtime. My team went from scoring 2 to 3 goals a game in the play offs to nothing. I was the second best goalie in the AHL while that goalie was the number 1 of course. Rochester went on to win the Calder Cup.

Disgusted with the play off performance, I decided to see if another team will give me a better opportunity. I chose Moose to play for my home team, Vancouver Canucks but I did not get called up by them. So, my hopes were either a Canadian team, or the Pittsburgh Penguins since they are a strong team and got a great canadian player, Crosby. Jerseys are awesome too. I did not feel like playing the wilkes-barre/scranton Penguins for the AHL so I ended up choosing the Montreal Canadiens. They established me as a Hamilton Bulldog Goalie. However, I was traded right away (before a single game in the Hamilton Bulldog jersey) to the New York Islanders who allowed me to start the first game of the season. My record for them is 12 W 12 L and 2 SO(which occurred back to back). I also have a GAA of 2.21 and save percentage of 90.7%.

And that is my Be A Pro Career so far.

I started my BAP as a power forward center for the San Jose Sharks. I started in Worchester as the 3rd line center. Just to let you know i play on Pro difficulty right now. in 14 games with the Worchester Sharks I had 29 goals 5 assists for 39 points. I and my right winger were called up to San Jose forcing Torrey Mitchell and Devon Setogouchi to the minors. I play every single game and I dont sim. So in the 68 games in the regular season i end with 156 goals and 50 assists in the NHL making the regular season total 245 points I ended the season on the first line. In the playoffs i got 14 assists and 20 goals driving the sharks to win the Stanley Cup. In the offseason my new contract is a 3 year 3.25 mil per year contract. After the draft and some roster moves im still on the first line but now im playing on the right wing with Joe Thornton in the center and Milan Michalek on the left. I just started the new season and so far its not too shabby.
