My very first crack at Be a Pro Mode didn't go so well.
I signed up as a Power Forward Right Winger with the Ottawa Senators confident that I was going to make a difference to the team. As it turns out, playing a Power Forward Right Winger is very frustrating and you don't really have a ton of control over the game.
Within the first few games, I was happily promoted to the second line on the Binghamton Senators and my career was blooming. However, I quickly learned that you don't get nearly as much experience per game if you aren't scoring...and trust me, there wasn't a lot of scoring going on.
After quite a few more games, I did eventually make it all the way to Line 1 on the Ottawa Senators.
My first game playing on the first line of one of the most competitive teams in hockey was disaster. We were matched up with The New Jersey Devils and lost a horrible 5 - 0. Scoring on Brodeur is like trying to skate on asphalt...it just doesn't happen.
My first real set back and immediately I was demoted to the second line. No big deal I thought, I'll make it up.
The next game I went out and scored 2 goals and got an assist. Surely I would be put back on the first line. But, to my surprise, the GM Brian Murray called me into the office to let me know I had been traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets!
Within a couple of days I had managed to work my way up to playing with one of the most feared first lines in the game, and suddenly I was in Columbus. What the hell happened?
Got a better story than that...share it in the comments!
